Visibility-Driven Signage for High-Traffic Storage Facilities
Need eyes on your self-storage facility? Visibility is not optional – because the business model relies on it. Storage Outlet operates in competitive, vehicle-heavy corridors where customers often decide within seconds whether to turn in or keep driving. For their Chino and El Monte locations, the goal was clear: design exterior signage that performs differently based on site conditions, while maintaining a consistent brand presence across both properties.
Premium Sign Solutions engineered and installed a monument sign in Chino and a pole sign in El Monte – each selected intentionally to match traffic speed, zoning constraints, and long-term brand value.
Why Monument and Pole Signs Matter for Storage Facilities
Exterior sign type determines how a property is perceived before a customer ever enters the driveway. Storage facilities face unique challenges: fast-moving traffic, wide parcels, and the need to communicate trust, security, and accessibility at a glance.
Monument signs work best where drivers are slowing down and navigating entrances. Pole signs excel where distance visibility and early recognition matter. Choosing the right combination allows a brand to be seen early, understood quickly, and trusted immediately.

Project Spotlight: Storage Outlet Chino & El Monte
This Progressive Realty Partners project required two different sign solutions for two very different sites — without compromising brand consistency.
Chino Location – Monument Sign for Ground-Level Clarity
At the Chino facility, traffic patterns and site layout favored a monument sign positioned at the entry point. This approach delivers clear, architectural visibility without unnecessary height, helping drivers identify the entrance safely and confidently.
Monument Sign Specifications (Chino):
- Overall size: 168 inch wide by 38.5 inch high
- Sign face: Lexan with printed vinyl graphics
- Designed for readability at driveway approach speeds
- Integrated into landscaping for a permanent, property-level presence
This monument sign reinforces credibility and longevity – two qualities storage customers subconsciously associate with security and reliability.

El Monte Location – Pole Sign for Distance Visibility
The El Monte site required a vertical solution built for speed and distance. With faster-moving traffic and extended sightlines, the sign needed elevation, scale, and visual confidence. A double-sided, internally illuminated pole sign was engineered to rise above its surroundings and register clearly from multiple approaches.
The cabinet spans just over 6 feet tall and 8 feet wide, with an 18 inch profile that gives the sign depth without bulk. A welded aluminum frame provides a rigid backbone, while smooth aluminum panels create a refined, architectural enclosure. The face, cut from nearly quarter-inch polycarbonate – delivers clarity and impact, carrying crisp vinyl graphics that stay legible at a glance.
Internally, a bright white LED system delivers even illumination across the full surface, maintaining visibility day and night. The sign is supported by a single 20 foot steel post, finished in satin black Matthews paint, giving the structure both strength and visual restraint.
The result is a confident landmark; clean, modern, and unmistakable from a distance – designed to guide drivers in before they ever slow down.
Designing for Durability, Efficiency, and Code Compliance
Exterior signage must survive years of sun exposure, wind load, and electrical demand – especially for 24/7 facilities like self-storage.
For both locations, Premium Sign Solutions selected aluminum, Lexan, polycarbonate, and Matthews paint systems specifically for long-term outdoor performance. Internally illuminated LED components were chosen for brightness, efficiency, and reduced maintenance over time
All fabrication and installation adhered to local zoning and electrical codes in both Chino and El Monte, eliminating permitting delays and ensuring long-term compliance.
Monument vs. Pole Signs: Making the Right Choice
One of the most common mistakes businesses make is choosing a sign type based on appearance alone.
- Pole signs maximize distance visibility but require more structural engineering and long-term maintenance.
- Monument signs integrate with the property, age more gracefully, and often deliver better ROI when placed correctly.
- Using both, as Storage Outlet did, ensures visibility at every stage of the customer’s approach – from first sight to final turn-in.
The key is starting with performance, not the logo.
